Handwritten Vinyl Decal

I am so excited about this project for so many reasons!  Not only did I turn my sweet Connor’s handwriting into a vinyl decal but I decorated an adorable picture frame with it.  I don’t know about you but I’m a sucker for keepsake gifts and this fun tutorial will help you turn anything into a meaningful gift.

Did you know that you can easily turn your child’s handwriting and artwork into a vinyl Decal?  Yep, you can and I bet it’s easier than you think.

Handwriting into Vinyl Decals

Today’s project is the perfect Mother’s Day gift but is also great for Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day, Christmas and so much more!

You’re going to start by having your child write a special note on a plain white piece of paper.  Make sure the paper is solid white – no lines.

Next, take a picture of the handwritten message.  Try to take the picture by the window so the background is as white as possible.  Transfer the image to your computer via email or dropbox.

Handwriting Cricut Step 1

Open Cricut Design Space and upload your image.  Select SIMPLE and then click CONTINUE.

Click on the white space around the words to erase the background.   Make sure you also erase the white spaces inside the letters.  Click CONTINUE.

Select SAVE AS CUT IMAGE and SAVE.  This will add your image to your canvas in Design Space.  Now you’re ready to size the image and cut it.

I seriously can’t believe how easy this was to do and how stinkin’ cute this entire project turned out.  Use transfer tape to apply the vinyl to a frame and you now have the cutest personalized gift ever!!  The project ideas are endless.  You can make mugs, drinking glasses, signs, and so much more all personalized with handwritten vinyl decals.
