Coffee Mug Herb Planters {Gift Idea}

It’s finally cooling off and I decided to spend an afternoon planting some mums and making Coffee Mug Herb Planters. Well, I’m not really sure if I should use the word “making” but I did transplant the herbs into coffee mugs and they’re still alive after a few days so I call that a huge success.

We have friends who just bought their dream home and I wanted to take them a little housewarming gift. I originally wanted to fill tea cups with herbs but I couldn’t find any cute tea cups so I picked up these fun coffee mugs and I actually like them better. Their house is new and modern so these mugs will look great in their kitchen or outside on their screened-in porch. They could even plant the herbs and use the coffee mugs. Either way, I think they turned out cute. The hardest part was picking out the herbs to use. I originally wanted basil but I couldn’t find any so I chose mint, parsley, and rosemary.

Oh man – I think I need to keep one for myself. Aren’t they cute? I’m pretty sure you don’t even need a green thumb to keep these bad boys alive.

Materials needed:

coffee mugs
herbs
potting soil

Directions:

Fill coffee cups with herbs and potting soil.

It doesn’t get any easier than that! Next, I needed to make some cute herb markers. Luckily you can smell the mint and rosemary so I don’t need markers right away.

I did learn one thing from this fun gift idea – gardening is pretty refreshing. It was so nice to be outside enjoying the fresh air. I had a glass of Snapple® Peach Tea in one hand and a handful of dirt in the other. Easton was crawling around on the deck playing with his toys. I had the music blaring while I got my gardening on. I’m all about the gardening therapy.

Now it’s time to sit back and take a flavorful break with Snapple while I admire my pretty Coffee Mug Herb Planters before I take them to my friend. I think I need to make a cute succulent coffee mug garden next.

Oh, and guess what? I’ve got a fun tip for you. Instead of ice, use frozen peaches to keep your peach tea cool. We can’t have watered down Snapple Tea now, can we?!
