Connor LOVES playing with clay.  He will sit at the table for hours and make stuff our of clay so I challenged him to make Mother’s Day Gifts out of all the clay we received from Sculpey.

And look what he came up with!  I’m so impressed with these cute marbled clay heart keychains he created!  They turned out great and he was able to make them for his aunts, grandmothers, and our neighbors who are like family to us.  He also gave me one which always makes me happy.

Guess what?  They’re so easy to make that I can promise you anyone can make them.

Sculpey Clay Supplies

Materials needed:

  • Sculpey Bake Shop clay – 2-3 of your favorite colors
  • circle crinkle cutter
  • small heart metal cutter
  • toothpick
  • keychains
  • glue gun with glue sticks

Directions:

Step 1:  Cut off various pieces of the clay that you want to use.  Roll each color into a long piece.  Then take all the rolls and twist them together like a candy cane.  Then, roll into a ball.  You can’t mess this up.  You can keep mixing the clay until you have the marble look you like.

Step 2:  Roll out your clay to about 1/4 inch thickness.  You can use a glass, rolling pin or clay roller.  Once your clay is rolled flat, use the crinkle cutter to cut out your circles.

Step 3:  Use your toothpick to place a small hole in each circle so you can add the keychain.

Step 4:  Make small hearts by rolling out your favorite color of clay and using the heart cutter.

Step 5:  Bake everything at 275 degrees for 15 minutes.

Step 6:  Glue clay hearts to center of circles.  Add your keychains and you have these cute marbled heart clay keychains.

  1. These are darling! I tend to keep the clay solid but am inspired to mix it up and marble it now. You make the best things!
