Today I’m sharing one of my favorite appetizers.  My mom used to make these cheesy Shrimp Meltaways all the time and they’ve always been a huge hit. They are gone within 10 minutes of coming out of the oven and everyone is always asking my mom for the recipe.

So, I did the same thing – I asked her for this crowd-pleasing recipe so I could make these meltaways while we watched football over the weekend and, of course, I had to share the recipe with all of you.

If you’re looking for a delicious appetizer full of flavor, you’ve come to the right place! These Shrimp Meltaways only require 6 ingredients and can be prepared ahead of time. My mom always has a bag of meltaways in the freezer so she can quickly make them for parties, family gatherings and more.

How to Make Shrimp Meltaways

The best thing about this recipe is that they’re easy to make and they don’t require a lot of ingredients. First, you’ll need to make the shrimp spread that goes on top of the English muffins. To make the shrimp mixture, mix together cooked shrimp with mayonnaise, Old English Cheese Spread, butter, and Season All seasoned salt. Next, spread the mixture on split English muffins that have also been cut in half and broil until hot and bubbly. Mine are usually ready in about 5 minutes.

Also, be prepared because these won’t last long especially if you’re making them for a party or family gathering. Just do yourself a favor and double (or triple) this recipe. You can always freeze a bunch before broiling them.

  1. I made these yesterday with the only change I used 1/4 tsp garlic powder and a dash of cayenne pepper instead of salt, no salt. And I baked them in a 400 degree oven for 17 minutes. They came out perfect! Crunchy crust, puffy tops. My only change next time is to eliminate the spices completely. I found them to be salty and I think even the little bit of cayenne pepper added too much to it.

I read other recipes online and took their advice by spreading the cheese mixture on the muffins, let them sit for 10 minutes so the cheese settles into muffin groves, then I froze them a half hour. They were so easy to cut into quarters. I then froze most of the quartered pieces, later put into a zip-lock bag for future snacks.

  2. We make these all the time with a can of crabmeat, sooo good! I can’t wait to try with shrimp!
