I finally finished a project that has been on my to-do list for months.
Last year I bought a placemat at Target and it has just been sitting in my craft closet. I knew I wanted to make a monogrammed pillow out of it but I was nervous about stenciling the letter on it. I’m terrible at stenciling. I don’t know why but I can’t do it. I get paint all over the place.
So I decided to use permanent markers.
The Write Dudes recently asked me to try out their Infinity Permanent Markers and I started thinking – stenciling with permanent markers has to be easier and neater than paint.
And I was right!!
I started by using a teal marker to color lines down the placemat. There were 5 pleats already sewn on the placemat so it was easy to color them in. Then I printed out the letter, cut it out and traced it on to the placemat. Then I just colored it in with a black permanent marker. So easy and no dry time needed.
The marker will bleed a little so you shouldn’t get too close to the edge of the letter. It will fill in as you color inside.
The final step is to open a small section in the seam and stuff your pillow. Then sew it right back up.
A simple project that adds a personalized touch to our living room. Now I’m looking around to see what else I can stencil with The Write Dudes Infinity Permanent Markers.
Great idea and it turned out so cute!
These are awesome! I can’t believe you made them with permenant markers! Pinned!
