Homemade Pantry Items You Can Easily Make Yourself

I shared yesterday that we are starting to eat more clean.  I read the labels of all the stuff in our pantry and if there was an ingredient that I couldn’t pronounce or recognize, it was donated or given to a neighbor.  And now I’ve put together a list of 10 Homemade Pantry Items that you can easily make yourself.  I like that most of these recipes make a lot so you won’t need to make them often and they don’t require a ton of ingredients.

Salted Caramel Mocha Bites

My favorite drink at Starbucks right now is the salted caramel mocha.  I love the combination of sweet and salty.

And since I can’t go to Starbucks everyday because I’m too cheap, I had to come up with something similar to satisfy my cravings.

When I came across caramel Hershey kisses at Target, I decided to make pretzel kisses with them.

The best part about this easy recipe is that Connor and I could do it together.  Connor was so excited to be my little helper and unwrap the Hershey kisses; probably because he could sneak a few when I wasn’t looking!!

These were so easy to make and only require 3 ingredients:

  • Small pretzels
  • Caramel Hershey kisses
  • M&M’s

Heat oven to 200 degrees.  Spread pretzels out on cookie sheet.  Place a Hershey kiss on each pretzel.  Bake for 3 minutes.  Remove from oven and immediately press an M&M on top of each kiss.  Let cool.

Then pop a few in your mouth because you won’t be able to each just one!

Now I can satisfy my craving for a salted caramel mocha for the next few days or until my husband eats them all!!

Peanut Butter Cup Chocolate Chip Cookies

Today I’m participating in a fun challenge hosted by Tina over at Moms Crazy Cooking.  Each month the challenge focuses on one feature food item.  This month it is chocolate chip cookies.

Photobucket

This fun challenge asks you to find a recipe from another blog, make it, and feature it.  I had so much fun looking for a fabulous new chocolate chip cookie recipe!

When I cam across Cook Bake & Decorate’s recipe for peanut butter cookie cups I knew I had to make them for my husband.  This combines two of his favorite treats – chocolate chip cookies and Reece’s peanut butter cups.

Cook Bake & Decorate’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 1 1/4 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. Milk
  • 1 Tbsp. Vanilla
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I just dump in the whole bag)

Cream together the shortening and brown sugar till it is light and fluffy.  Beat in the milk, vanilla, and egg.  Next, stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt.  Stir till well combined.  Next slowly mix in the chocolate chips.

Spray mini-muffin tins with non-stick cooking spray.  Fill muffin cups with a spoon full of cookie dough.

Bake for 9-11 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately press one mini Reese’s peanut butter cup into the center of each cookie.  Let cool in the pan for a few minutes, then remove and place on a wire rack to cool completely.

These were AMAZING!  And since my husband was coming home from his 6 week training course, it was the perfect little surprise for him.

Look at all the other fabulous chocolate chip recipes featured this month on the Crazy Cooking Challenge.  Don’t they all look delicious?

Grammies are the best!!

We celebrated my mom’s 60th birthday over the weekend and since all the grandchildren call her Grammy, we thought it would be cute to make Grammies.

These fun treats are chocolate covered graham crackers. They were delicious and so easy to make. Just dip graham crackers in chocolate, place on wax paper and place in refrigerator until chocolate sets.

My aunt added sprinkles to the first batch and it looks like people liked the ones with sprinkles better:)

Let me tell you, these things did not last long!

They were a big hit!!

So if you need a fun treat for your favorite Grammy, make her some Grammies!

Yummy Treat Inspired by Pinterest

If you browse Pinterest as much as I do then I know you’ve seen the pin with the raspberries stuffed with chocolate chips.

My dad loves raspberries so when I went to visit this past weekend I made him this simple treat.

Let me just tell you -
They were delicious!!
The best part is that they are so easy to make.
Only two ingredient!
And I would say they are somewhat healthy.  Raspberries are high in antioxidants:)
If you need a quick and easy treat, I definitely recommend this fun idea.
