Screen Time Checklist Printable

Summer vacation is right around the corner and it time to limit screen time.  But, instead of just saying no screen time, we’ve turned it into a reward.  They can earn screen time every day after they do everything on this checklist.  An easy way to get your child to do their chores, read for a little while and do something beside play video games and watch television all summer long.

Connor and I had a long talk (okay, I mostly talked) about how he was not going to spend all summer watching television and playing video games.  I don’t think he really thought I was serious until I presented him with this Summer Screen Time Checklist.

We actually started this towards the end of last summer and I was surprised to not hear a lot of complaining.  He knew that he had to do his chores before any screen time because that’s the rule during the school year.  But, I actually found him reading and playing with his brother every morning and we’ve already come up with a fun list of craft projects to work on together this summer.

There are many benefits to implementing a screen time checklist. Not only will it help limit the amount of time your child is watching television, playing video games, and on their electronics. It will also help them get into a routine of doing tasks and chores before spending time on their screens.

How to Print and Use These Free Printables

Step 1: Print

I highly recommend printing these printables on white cardstock. Cardstock is thicker than regular paper and works better with printables that require a lot of ink.

I also recommend using a professional printing service to get the best quality. I go to Office Depot or Staples a lot to print my printables. I’ve also used Shutterfly and Walgreens to print large printables.  Most printables use a lot of ink so it may even save you money to get them professionally printed.

Step 2: Laminate

To keep these printables looking their best all year long, it’s best to laminate them. This is my favorite at-home laminator that I use all the time. You can also use clear sheet protectors to protect the checklists. Laminating them or using sheet protectors allows us to reuse the checklists day after day and week after week.

Step 3: Record Tasks and Times

Use dry erase markers to record information on the checklists and check tasks off as they are completed.
