Every year for Mother’s Day I like to get my mom a gift basket full of fun items that I know she will like.  This year I’m switching things up and putting these fun items in a Personalized Cosmetic Bag I created thanks to my handy dandy Cricut.

DIY Personalized Cosmetic Bag

I started with a cute cosmetic bag I picked up at Hobby Lobby. I liked this one because it’s made of a laminated fabric which means it’s easy to wipe clean.  I also liked it because it’s the perfect surface to decorate with vinyl.

Cheers to that my friends!

I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned my love of all things personalized and monogrammed.  And, if you love to personalize things as much as I do, this is the project for you.  Don’t worry if you don’t have a vinyl cutter.  You can buy vinyl letters at most craft stores or cut them out yourself and stick them right on your own cosmetic bag.

So, back to this beauty.  First, decide on your design.  I wanted something simple for my mom and decided to just add an L instead of her initials.  I didn’t want the letter to get lost in the bold stripes, so I created a simple diamond pattern in the Cricut Design Space (view here).  This is a simple design that you can easily cut out yourself with scissors.

Stick your vinyl onto the cosmetic bag using transfer tape and you’re done.  Wow!  How easy was that?  Now, all you have to do is fill the cosmetic bag with fun items you know your mom will love.  And, don’t forget the tassel.

A simple Mother’s Day gift that you can make in less than 15 minutes.  The only problem is – now I want to make a personalized cosmetic bag for myself and I only bought one bag.  I guess I better go get another one.
