Wow! I guess it’s true – time flies when you’re having fun because this summer has flown by. I feel like summer vacation just started and now we’re getting ready to head back to school. I’m not sure I’m ready for school to start and I’m still in denial that Connor is starting third grade.

Lunchbox Hacks

Heading back to school means it’s time to start packing lunches and getting things organized. I’ve discovered a few Back-to-School Lunchbox Hacks that I just had to share with you. These ideas will make packing lunches easy and fun.

Snack Station

1. Keep a snack bin in your pantry. I did this last year and it has helped make packing lunches so much easier. It’s also great for after school snacks too. I found my bins at The Dollar Store and packed it with Horizon crackers.

2. Make your own 100 calorie snack packs using small snack bags. Fill them with crackers, cookies, fruit, veggies – pretty much anything you’re snacking on.

3. Use a rubberband to keep your cut up apple fresh.

4. Make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches ahead of time and freeze them.

5. Use cookie cutters to make sandwiches into fun shapes. This is also a quick way to cut the crust off of the bread. Connor loves when I do this.

6. Use cupcake liners for DIY Bento boxes.

7. Pack lunches for the entire week. I really need to start doing this. This will make things so much easier and less stressful.

Milk Robots Lunchbox Hack

8. Make fun robot snacks. I love making these for Connor. I make them with Horizon’s Strawberry milk and applesauce. Just a little treat to pack in your child’s lunchbox to put a smile on their face.

Emoji Lunchbox Notes 3

9. Speaking of smiles – add lunchbox notes to lunches. This is fun for both Connor and me. I love writing him little notes and if I forget, Connor will ask why I didn’t write him a note. I found these emoji stickers online and new they would be perfect for little notes. I’ve created a few printable lunchbox notes but this makes it super easy. Just add a sticker to a notecard and write a little message. Connor’s totally obsessed with emojis so I made him fun emoji lunchbox notes.

11. Or, freeze grapes and use them as an ice pack. Another fabulous idea!

yogurt parfaits 2

12. Make yogurt parfaits using a mason jar and empty snack cups. I saw this idea on a Facebook video and had to try it. And guess what? It worked and it’s easy. Just fill a mason jar with 6 ounces of yogurt.  Then add 1/2 cup of fruit.  The trick is to fill an empty snack cup with granola and set that inside the mason jar.  Put the lid on the jar and your granola won’t get soggy.  When you’re ready to eat your parfait, unscrew the lid and pour the granola over the fruit and yogurt.  How awesome is that?!

Kroger

And while you’re grocery shopping for all your back-to-school lunch items, make sure you stop at your local Kroger. I’m totally hooked on their Natural Foods section. I love that I can find healthy, fresh food all in one section. They even have baby food for Easton.
