Easton is already 10 months and I’m still working hard to lose that baby weight.  Why are the last few pounds the hardest to lose?  I’m not as focused on losing the weight as I am on just being better.  It’s not about dieting.  It’s about being active, eating right, and staying on track so I’m happy in my own skin.  I’m determined to live a happy lifestyle for myself and my family.  It’s important to do this, and I need to be a good role model for my boys.

nutritious tips to live by

So today I’m sharing 10 Tips that everyone should be doing to stay on track while living a nutritious lifestyle.  Even if you can’t do all ten, try to do as many as you can.  And trust me – I’m not perfect all the time.  I’m coming up with this list for myself to use as a reference and I thought I would share it with you too.   I’m also sharing a fun sweepstakes with you today.  Have you heard of the new Pure Protein Plus Bars yet?  We’re loving them and we can’t wait for you to try them too!

Salad

Eat the Rainbow – We all know it’s important to eat our fruits and vegetables.  Remember to eat lots of different fruits and veggies so we fill our bodies with different nutrients.

Control Portion Sizes – Eat smaller meals that satisfy your hunger.  This is something that I’ve always done.  I stop eating as soon as I’m full.

Read Labels – I’m trying not to eat foods that have ingredients I can’t pronounce.  It’s also important to read portion sizes and the salt, sugar, fat content.  It’s amazing how much sugar I was eating before I started reading labels.

10 Healthy Tips to Live By - Water

Drink Water – This is so hard for me.  I started using an app that reminds me to drink water every hour.  I know it’s horrible that I can’t even remember to drink water.  What the heck is wrong with me?  Every day you should try to drink between half an ounce and an ounce of water for each pound you weigh.  That’s a lot of water and I’m definitely not drinking enough, which means I better change that ASAP!

Sleep – Make sure you get enough sleep.  Wishful thinking right?  Well, at least try.  We all know how important our sleep is to our health.  Plus, I read that not getting enough sleep causes you to age faster and we definitely don’t want that!

Pure Protein Bars

Always Eat Breakfast – We all know that we need to eat breakfast.  There are so many benefits to eating a nutritious breakfast.  My biggest problem is finding the time to eat breakfast.  Mornings are busy and before I know it, it’s 11:30 and I realize I haven’t had anything to eat all day.  Although they are not a substitute for breakfast or any other meal, I’m totally obsessed with the new Pure Protein Plus Bars!  They’re available in four flavors – Cookies and Cream, Mocha Brownie, Apple Pie and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  My husband loves the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  My favorite is the Apple Pie.

Pure Protein Bars

Why do we love Pure Protein Plus Bars?  Not only do we love the way they taste but I love that they are full of protein and fiber which is what we all need and they are low in sugar with no artificial sweeteners. Stay Active – We all know that we need to work out regularly. It’s so much easier to workout with a partner.  Try and workout 3 – 4  times a week for at least 30 minutes.  Why does it sound so much easier to type that out than it is to actually workout on a regular basis?  And guess what?  Pure Protein Plus Bars are perfect for after a great workout.  Stay on track with Pure Protein!

Take 10,000 Steps a Day This goes with staying active but if you can’t work out, make sure you’re getting up and walking around.  Using a pedometer to keep track of your daily steps is great motivation to get those steps in everyday.

journal

Keep a Journal – You can record your thoughts, keep a food journal, or even use just a planner to stay organized.  Anything to record things so you aren’t stressed.  My neighbor just started a Bullet Journal and she is loving it.  And we all know how nice it is to just sit and jot down what we’re thinking.
