Monsters University was the last movie we saw together as a family before Tim’s deployment.  Connor has been obsessed with anything and everything Monsters University since then.  Every time we see anything related to the movie, Connor will say “Remember when we saw that movie with Daddy!”  Then he will say “I love when Daddy takes me to the movies.”

And I love how a movie can have such a special memory!  Tim is so afraid that Connor is going to forget him while he is gone for 9 months but there is no way that that is going to happen!!

I was super excited to hear that Monsters University Blue Ray Combo Pack was being released October 29th.  Now we can watch the movie together and it will remind Connor of his awesome Daddy!

I also thought it would be fun to make Monster Jolly Rancher Lollipops.  These are so quick and easy to make!

Supplies needed:

  • Jolly Ranchers
  • lollipop sticks
  • candy eyes
  • parchment paper
  • baking sheet

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees.

Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper (not wax paper!  I learned this the hard way)

Place 2 or three Jolly Ranchers next to each other so they are touching.  Spread out so you have room to add the sticks.

Place in oven for about 8-10 minutes.

Remove from oven and immediately add candy eyes and lollipop sticks.  The best way to add the sticks is to place them on the melted candy and twist them so it is completely covered.

Let cool and enjoy!

You can’t go wrong with Jolly Ranchers and candy eyes!

I love how some of them look like the middle color is the monster mouth.  And Connor loves that he pretty much made these himself.

  1. Thanks for this this great (and simple) idea – made these today – it makes me so happy when projects at home turn out as nicely as the way they look on ‘fancy momblogs’. 🙂
