Create and Share - DIY Bath and Body Products

Hi friends!!
We are back with another Create & Share Round Up and Link Party!

Each week we share some fabulous projects we've found based on a specific topic and then ask y'all to share your own creations that correspond to the topic.
This week we bring you....
I don't know about you but I'm starting to think about Christmas gifts that I can make for people. I like the idea of making bath and body products because you can make a big batch and give them to a lot of friends... and who can't use a little pampering now and then?!?
Here are some AWESOME tutorials I have found:
1. Bath Bombs by One Good Thing by Jillee, 2. Lavender Body Butter by May DIY, 3. Lavender and Peppermint foot Cream by Rebecca's Soap Deli News, 4. Body Butter Bars from Green Experiments, 5. Peppermint and Lemon Foot Soak by Or So She Says..., 6. Snowflake Soaps by Torie Jayne, 7. Chapstick by Tidy Tipsy, 8. Citrus Salt Scrub by Adelyn Stone, 9. Homemade Sugar Scrub by Maybe Matilda, 10. Lip Balm by Martha Stewart

Okay, maybe I at least need to make some for ME if not for gifts! I could definitely use some pampering!

Please share your own DIY bath and body products with us now!

We would love it if you would also put this button on your post to invite others to the party!

And remember all of our "Create and Share" link parties are on-going so stop by some others to share your creations too!

Favorite Finds with Sewing Barefoot

I love finding new blogs and Sewing Barefoot has definitely become one of my favorite blogs to read!  Shannon has so many fabulous ideas that truly inspire me.

So I had to ask her to be my guest and share a few of her favorite finds under $10.

Check them out.  I think you will love them as much as I do!

1.  Sherwin Williams "Tight Spot" short handled paint brush - I cut in all of the rooms in our house with this thing! It helps with precision and accuracy when painting... I wont use any other brush!

2.  My favorite OPI nail polish - I wear it year round on my toes :)

3.  Best hand cream - inexpensive and definitely makes your nails stronger!

4.  This little guy is great because I usually stick my yarn, needles & pattern into the container so it's easy to carry around (and keeps everything organized and clean).

5.  I use this on everything (except our granite)! it's great for "in between" cleanings and the Rainshower scent smells so good!

6.  Burt's Bees lip shimmer in color Peony - I don't like lipstick so this is the perfect combo for me:

7.  Best fine tip pen for drawing, rendering or writing! http://www.uchida.com/p-63-le-pen.aspx

8.  This baby bug jars fabric is so adorable - my mom got me a bunch of it and I'm saving it for the perfect project. I love it!

Thanks Shannon for being my guest today and sharing all these fabulous products.  I'm not a big fan of lipstick either so I can't wait to try the Burt's Bees lip shimmer.  And I'm pretty sure I need the hand cream and the Pledge too!  So many great finds - I think it's a great excuse to go to Target!!

Stop by Sewing Barefoot if you have a minute and say "hi" to Shannon.  You won't be disappointed.

Point of View Party - Thrift Store Projects

I'm so excited to be a guest at this month's Point of View Party.

These fabulous ladies host a monthly party called Point of View and each month there is a different theme.  The theme this month is Thrift Store.

I have to admit, I love going to thrift stores but often get overwhelmed with all the stuff they have.  Too many ideas run through my mind and I usually end up leaving with nothing.

So this month was really motivating for me.  I probably went to 5 thrift stores without getting anything.  Then I found this box and immediately knew what I had to make.
I desperately needed a docking station.  Every time I unhook my phone charger from my phone, it falls behind the nightstand and it drives me crazy.

I found the box at the thrift store for $2.99 but it was the color of the day so it only cost me $1.50.  Then I found the awesome textured felt at Michael's.  I already had the paint so this project cost me less than $3.00.

And the best part - it was such an easy project to complete.  I simply unscrewed the lid of the box and drilled the hole.  The key is to drill your hole so only the smaller end of the charger can slide through so the larger end won't slip through when you unhook the phone.   I sanded and painted the box.  Then used double sided tape to attach the felt.

So what do you think?

Now head on over and share your thrift store projects at this month's Point of View Party!

Caramel Popcorn Treat Bags

As soon as I found these cute treat bags at Michaels I knew I had to buy them and use them for something.   So I decided to make caramel popcorn treat bags for Connor's teachers.
Caramel Popcorn Recipe
Ingredients:
  • 3 bags of popped popcorn
  • 1 cup of butter
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup of light corn syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla
  • 1 bag of M&M's - I used 1/2 bag of peanut M&M's and 1/2 bag of peanut butter M&M's
Directions:
  • Preheat oven to 250 degrees.
  • Pop popcorn and dump in large bowl.
  • In medium sauce pan - melt butter and add brown sugar and corn syrup.  Stir and bring to a boil.  Let boil for 4-5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat.  Add baking soda and vanilla.  Stir until everything is mixed together.
  • Add M&M's to popcorn.
  • Pour sauce over popcorn.  Stir until popcorn is coated.  I put a lid on my bowl and shook it up.
  • Spread on baking sheet and bake for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and let cool
  • If you plan on making treat bags I recommend putting the popcorn in bags as soon as popcorn is cool or place in air tight container until you plan on putting them in bags to keep popcorn from getting soft.
I hope Connor's teachers like their treats.  Do you have a favorite popcorn recipe?  Now I'm in the mood to make kettle corn and candied popcorn.
