Magnetic Halloween Countdown

Halloween is definitely one of my favorite holidays!

And since it's right around the corner, I decided that Connor and I needed a fun way to countdown to the exciting day.

I was able to make this fun, magnetic Halloween countdown using fabulous products from Plaid and Mod Podge.

Here is what you need to make your own Halloween countdown:
  • a piece of wood cut to 12 in x 12 in
  • a piece of sheet metal cut 8 in x 8 in
  • a piece of scrapbook paper
  • countdown printable (download HERE)
  • Sparkle Mod Podge
  • Washable Mod Podge
  • Glossy Sealer
  • ribbon
  • drill
  • Embellishments:  plastic bats, spiders
  • glitter
  • Mod Podge brush
  • Mod Podge roller
  • cement glue or any strong glue
  • stickers to go over date and to spell out "Happy Halloween"
  • magnet

Step 1:  Use the mod podge brush to spread the glitter Mod Podge over the piece of wood and the back of the scrapbook paper.  Lay scrapbook paper over the wood and smooth out using the roller.  Let dry.

Step 2:  Cut Countdown printable so it is 8 x 8.  Use mod podge to adhere Countdown Printable to sheet metal.  Then spread a layer of mod podge over top of printable.

Step 3:  While that is all drying, start adding glitter to embellishments.  I found the spiders and bats at the Dollar Store.  Spread mod podge over spiders and bats (or whatever you want to use).  Cover with glitter.  Once the dry seal with the Glossy Sealer.

Step 4:  Now that everything is dry, drill holes in top of wooden board.  Thread ribbon through holes and tie knots on both ends

Step 5:  Glue the metal countdown to the center of the wood piece.

Step 6:  Glue embellishments to board

Step 7:  Create the date marker by adding a magnet to the back of sticker or image you want to use.

Step 8:  Hang and admire!

Now we are all ready to start the countdown!  I can't wait!!

Thank you Blueprint Social and Plaid for all the fabulous Mod Podge supplies! We all know Mod Podge is awesome!!

Check out more great Halloween projects using Mod Podge!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Cookie Sandwiches

I have to start by saying these are DELICIOUS!  Especially if you love peanut butter and chocolate as much as we do!!
And the best part - they are super easy to make!

Just make your favorite peanut butter cookie recipe.  While they are cooking, remove wrappers from peanut butter cups.  When cookies come out of the oven, let cool for a few minutes.  Remove cookies from cookie sheet and place on cooling rack.  As you place cookies on cooling rack, put a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup between two cookies to form sandwiches.  Let cookies cool completely.

Then enjoy these delicious Reese's peanut butter cookie sandwiches!!

Now that I have you craving peanut butter and chocolate, check out all the other peanut butter recipes linked up to Get Your Chef On link party.

Favorite Finds with Rachel

Today I have Rachel from Postcards from Rachel sharing a few of her favorite finds under $10.  I've been hooked on her blog for awhile now so I'm so excited to have her as my guest today!!

1.  I have always been a fan of wire wrap rings. This one is my favorite!

2.  When we were traveling a lot, I was always afraid to pack perfume because I didn’t want the bottle to break.  That’s why I was so excited to find Lush solid perfume.  It’s small and smells great.

3.  Using a nail buffer is an easy way to ensure smooth, beautiful nails.  I love this set because it’s inexpensive and colorful!

4.  I’ve been drinking a lot of tea lately so this travel mug with a removable tea diffuser is perfect!

5.  Somehow I either misplace my hairbrush, or I forget to pack it. I love this little guy because you can keep it on you at all times; just pop it in your purse!

6.  I am obsessed with buying things for my puppy. This houndstooth mat is adorable and would look great in any kitchen.

7.  I received this bottle of China Glaze nail polish in my monthly Glossy Box when we were living in the UK. It doesn’t chip right away like other polish I’ve tried in the past, plus the shade is perfect for any occasion!

Great picks Rachel!!  I will be looking for solid perfume the next time I'm out shopping.  Thanks for being my guest and sharing your favorite finds today.
