Point of View Party - Thrift Store Projects

I'm so excited to be a guest at this month's Point of View Party.

These fabulous ladies host a monthly party called Point of View and each month there is a different theme.  The theme this month is Thrift Store.

I have to admit, I love going to thrift stores but often get overwhelmed with all the stuff they have.  Too many ideas run through my mind and I usually end up leaving with nothing.

So this month was really motivating for me.  I probably went to 5 thrift stores without getting anything.  Then I found this box and immediately knew what I had to make.
I desperately needed a docking station.  Every time I unhook my phone charger from my phone, it falls behind the nightstand and it drives me crazy.

I found the box at the thrift store for $2.99 but it was the color of the day so it only cost me $1.50.  Then I found the awesome textured felt at Michael's.  I already had the paint so this project cost me less than $3.00.

And the best part - it was such an easy project to complete.  I simply unscrewed the lid of the box and drilled the hole.  The key is to drill your hole so only the smaller end of the charger can slide through so the larger end won't slip through when you unhook the phone.   I sanded and painted the box.  Then used double sided tape to attach the felt.

So what do you think?

Now head on over and share your thrift store projects at this month's Point of View Party!

  1. I know exactly what you mean about the stinkin cord falling everytime you unhook the phone. This is a great idea! I think I may have to try it too.

Thanks for joining us in sharing your Point of View!

  5. Cool idea- it wouldn't work for my droid cord though, much smaller! I like to keep my phone cord through the one scetion of our head board- soooo not as cool looking as this though!

  6. Oh, this is brilliant! I can see how this can be further developed to host more than one gadget.
