Easy Way to Display Photos with Santa

As I opened our boxes of Christmas decorations last week, I was so happy when I found the three pictures of Connor sitting on Santa’s lap.  It was so fun to see how he has changed through the years!

I just had to find a way to display these adorable pictures!

I knew I wanted an easy frame that I could add pictures to each year and I wanted it to look like a college of pictures so I decided to make a clothesline frame.  I’ve seen these frames on Pinterest and love them.  But instead of having the string go across in rows that are evenly spaced, I thought it would be fun to be a little different.  So I made my rows by randomly having them zig zag back and forth.

Here is what you will need to make your own photo display:

  • 1 frame – I found mine at a thrift store for $4.98
  • Paint
  • Glaze (optional)
  • Thumbtacks
  • Jute or string
  • Mini clothespins

To make your frame:

Step 1:  Paint the frame – I started by painting the frame red. Then I glazed it using black glaze I already had.

Step 2:  Turn the frame over and push your push pins in halfway – I placed mine 2 inches apart.  I started two inches down from the opening on one side and then started 2 inches down on the other side because I didn’t want my rows to line up perfectly.

Step 3:  Start by tying the jute to the first thumbtack.  Wrap your string around the thumbtacks randomly going across.  Tie the string to last thumbtack.  Use a hammer to push the thumbtacks all them way into the frame.  This should keep the rope more secure.

Step 4:  Attach your pictures using the clothespin.

Step 5:  Admire your masterpiece!!

Can it really get any easier than this?

I really love how it turned out and I especially love displaying these special photos.  I have to admit that this is probably one of my favorite projects I’ve done.  I love the rustic feel of the frame with the jute rope.

Don’t you just love when a project turns out exactly as you envisioned it in your head?
