Organizing Coupons

I'm trying to be better about using coupons but I couldn't seem to find an efficient way to use them while grocery shopping.  I tried using a coupon organizer but it seemed to take me forever to find them.  The lid of the plastic organizer would always close as I was looking through it or I could never find what I was looking for.  It just seemed to take me longer to grocery shop.  I felt very stressed using coupons and I know it isn't supposed to be a stressful thing.

I had to find a better way to organize my coupons so I decided to try using a book ring.  I took all my coupons (I don't have a ton) and a punched a hole in the side away from the barcode.  Then I put them all on the binder ring.  The last thing I did was place an envelope at the very back of all the coupons.

So now when I go grocery shopping all I have to do is flip through the ring for the coupon I want to use, pull it off the ring and place it in the envelop.  Then when I get to the register, I can take out the coupons in the envelop and hand them to the cashier.

My coupons before (with the binder clips):

My coupons after:
The best part is I can attach it to the handle of my purse and the shopping cart while I'm shopping.  At home I can keep it on my key holder to add more coupons as I get them.

I hope this helps make coupon using easier for me.  How do you keep your coupons organized?  Do you use the big plastic coupon organizer envelopes?  If so, how do you like it?

  3. That does sound like a great idea. I've seen people in the stores with big note books with their coupons in plastic pages and that just seems like so much to carry around.
I found you from the Meet Me Monday.

  21. You just saved me. I had a system that was working great but it was stolen last week and I've been dejected! I got the organizer at a store out of town so I can't replace it easily. This is ingenious! I love it! Thanks for making me smile again (I know it's just coupons but it still stung!) Now I'm going to go wander around your blog. So glad I saw this idea on pinterest.

  23. I have a small accordion folder - about the size of a clutch. I put the coupons in FOR THAT TRIP each week, and organize them by store. I don't clip unless I'm going to use the coupons. That's not a bad idea though...

  24. Saw your craft on Pinterest and wanted to stop by and started looking around. Love your site. I use a 3 ring binder and put my coupons in baseball card holders. I found the idea on a couponing site. It has been working so great for me. I just flip through it and see all my coupons and put the ones I want to use in the poscket in front. I use to use the plastic coupon thing you did and hated it...I was getting frustrated while shopping with my kids so I ended up just forgetting my coupons. Now with my binder its so easy to go to the section I need and take them out! Your idea is great but I have to many to do it that way or I would :)!

  25. GENIUS!! Found this on Pinterest. So glad I clicked on it. This is SO going to help me get organized and start using coupons. I've tried various things to no avail. Mostly I walk around the store clutching a bundle I plan to use, dropping coupons as I go, and fumbling for which ones I actually need at the register. It is like this system was tailor made for me. Thank you!!!
